Nada Surf is an American alternative rock group formed in 1992. A New York band consists of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums) and Daniel Lorca (bass). A band is right-known for the song, "Popular" from either their 1996 album High/Low. A song reached #11 on the Me Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and propelled a album to #63 on the Billboard 200.
A watch-higher effort, The Proximity Effect, failed to garner much attention. A band explains in their official site:
Nada Surf recorded A Proximity Result around 1998 by owning Fred Maher (Luna, Lou Reed, Matthew Sweet). It was the powerful ticket record. Elektra, claiming it "didn’t hear a single," asked a band to last back in the studio to hunt for a single. When this was months when they’d handed a record within, a b& refused and were dropped. It’s jolly safe to say, though, that Elektra didn’t come out to exist as "listening" super arduous. A Proximity Symptom wevery bit freed as scheduled around Europe. Critics loved it & fans bought it. Elektra however didn’t care, however a band however did. Therefore when wrestling a rights back, Nada Surf freed A Proximity Burden stateside within 2000 in their have label, MarDev Records, & toured accordingly...
When a quadruplet-season break, the class action discharged Let Go through Barsuk Records to positive reviews. A song "Inside of Love" received a select few airplay & possibly reached #73 in the United Kingdom, a deed which neither "Popular" nor a more 2 antecedently discharged singles from either Let Last achieved. in a nature and severity of the lone, the album reached #31 on Hoarding's Top Independent Albums chart.
A band's 4th album, The Weight Is a Gift, was released inside Germany on September 5th 2005 by City Slang Records, in Japan/Australia September 12th and in the America September 13th by Barsuk, and in the rest of Europe September 19th by V2/City Slang. It was by Chris Walla of the band Death Cab For Cutie, Louie Lino and Nada Surf.
